We are currently piloting a new and innovative mobile poultry processing facility for processing our chickens on the farm.  This unit is owned by the New England Small Farm Institute - we are one of several growers who are approved to use the unit while it is in it's testing/approval phase.  We have a state license and have received local board of health approval to use the unit in Concord.  There is great need in the state for a legal, affordable, and humane way for small scale growers to process their own chickens and sell direct to consumers.  We are seeking funds to help build a second unit to be managed by the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, based in Eastern Massachusetts.  Help us achieve our $55,000 fundraising goal by making a charitable contribution now.

Invitation for two to farm luncheon and private tour of Pete and Jen's pastured livestock operation.  Eat delicious grass-fed meats, tasty vegetables, and learn more about the MPPU and the "pasture dance" we do with our rotational grazing schedule for our pastured poultry, pigs, sheep and rabbits. P

Private dinner seating for two at the Beacon Hill Bistro with executive chef, Jason Bond who will prepare a four-course meal featuring Pete and Jen's Backyard Birds grass-fed meats and delicious wine pairings.  Chef Jason has volunteered over 80 hours of chicken processing time  and we appreciate his meticulous butchering skills!  And, priority ordering for Backyard Birds chickens.
 
* The fair market value of the gift incentive will be subtracted from the tax deduction value of your gift. Lunch fmv= $40 and Dinner FMV= $130
 
If we are able to raise the necessary funds, all donors will be invited to a "red ribbon" ceremony to inaugurate the new Eastern Mass Mobile Poultry Processing Unit .  
 
It takes us approximately 8 hours of driving to pick up and return the unit to Western, MA (increasing the food miles of your chicken!).  Having a MPPU available in Eastern Mass would expand the number of farms who could produce good quality locally raised chickens.  Your charitable contribution is vital!
